So, today I’m going to introduce the café that full of my secondary school memories, VCR Café. I remember that me and my friends will always go there for our lunch during the exam period.
VCR is an old building that is directly converted into a coffee shop. This explains why many of the decorations, floors, and ceilings look a bit old, but in a sense, they are completely damaged. The whole building is well maintained as an old-fashioned but still have the feeling of new and modern café.

VCR has been there since 1940! It retains the old historical touch, but it has been renovated to provide a solid foundation that makes visitors feel like they're entering an old cafe, but you don't have to worry about the wood floors that may break when you step on it, while the old walls may be covered with some green weeds, the ceiling may break and water drop from above... Because this place is well maintained, it gives you a great sense of relaxation and home feeling.
Ordering in VCR is easy. Enter the VCR and you will see the counter on the left. You can place an order or find a seat first. Usually, without too many customers, I place an order and grab a place. Sometimes they will give you a number and put it on the table. However, if they don't have many customers, they will deliver your orders to you without giving the number.

VCR is also a great choice for people to study or work, use laptops, read books, or chat with friends and family. In other words, you can spend your time here for more than half a day. Not to mention that, their Wi-Fi is good and stable unless it's peak hours.
The Café has 2 level, their ground floor is a bit small and compact and their first floor is larger. So, if you came with 3 and above peoples, you are advised to have a seat on the second floor.

On the first floor, there has a small garden outside the cafe. It's very simple and clean and looks like a place for people to sit down and enjoy the sun. Actually, this is a smoking area, but so far, I didn’t see many people smoke there. Most customers prefer to sit inside. It's not a good idea either, as the area is not under the ceiling, so the atmosphere depends entirely on the weather.

This will be the best view of VCR as you can enjoy your coffee with a beautiful view. Although there is nothing special around the VCR, old buildings, cars, and roads, here you can enjoy the green views of the trees, especially during the day. A cup of coffee, a book or have a conversation with friends is really comfortable and relax with this view. If you want to enjoy this view, you may visit this cafe during the day, as the scenery at night might not as good as the day.

Besides their environment can make you feel relax accompanied by beautiful music. Just feel-good music, it's not too noisy, there's no rocking or Techno songs, it's not slow and sleepy songs. It's great to relax, having a convo with friends and family, and enrich your soul.
When I went there, I always ordered their Cappuccino (RM11). It really looks nice. This proves their Barista skills and qualities. Of course, we'll never miss the perfect taste of cappuccino, which is so smooth and balanced. You won't feel too much milk, milk foam affecting overall taste, and so on. It's just.... perfect!
Besides, I also like their French toast (RM19) very much! It always comes with a big scoop of ice cream. The ideal time to order is after 1 p.m., especially in hot weather. Unlike most French toasts there, VCR's French toast not only focuses on toast but also the ice cream and the crust beside the toast adds a great flavor to toast. The crust is quite amazing in terms of flavor. It's fun to eat only the bread skin with chocolate syrup, and you can always add it to toast with ice cream.

Overall, their quality is very good. The range of food is not that broad and common, but it tastes good compared to similar cakes or coffees elsewhere. Their portion is excellent also. But it is not that great in portion if you looking for a full meal. But since dessert is usually not meant to be the main meal, it's good to have it as dessert after some main meal. For their price, it's well worth it. It's not cheap, but it's actually expensive. But given the price range of other cafes, it's actually pretty much the same. But the good thing is that the overall quality and dining experience are really worth it. Their environment is excellent too. It looks old from the outside, but it looks modern from the inside. It's a little dark, but that's what makes this place different. Perfect for cooling and learning or working purposes. It's nice to keep you away from the big city and get away with it.
